This is actually the second educational series from DJI and Wild Rabbit and offers 50 minutes worth of videos explaining how to scout locations and subjects, create a storyboard and shots list, and how to shoot with a drone using dual operators.
The course demonstrates all of this with a DJI Inspire 1 – a drone that is designed to be used by two operators at the same time (one on the controls and one on the camera).
The course also addresses some of the more common issues that accompany shooting video with a drone, like keeping the drone’s shadow and operators out of the shot as well as some basic cinematography techniques like lighting and dividing a single shot into multiple takes.
One thing the video does not address is editing the footage. Of course, editing takes an entirely different skill set and you are not going to achieve an end result like the one in the course without some experienced in the editing department. There are plenty of tools out there for you to edit your own footage but there are also services like DreamitReel that can take your raw footage and edit it for you.
And if you have a storyboard, it makes the editing process even easier regardless of who is editing the footage.
All in all, the Wild Rabbit team does an excellent job with this course and if you are at all interested, it is certainly worth checking out because, again, it is free.
